Guest Lecture by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Norhafezah binti Kasmuri at the Department of Civil Engineering and Planning Education

On May 20 - 23, 2024, the Department of Civil Engineering and Planning Education of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) had the privilege of hosting a visiting professor by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Norhafezah binti Kasmuri. This guest lecture is part of the Enhancing Quality Education for International University Recognition (EQUITY) program which aims to increase UNY's recognition at the international level.

Assoc. Prof. Norhafezah, who came from the School of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia, taught for 6 meetings in the Water Resources Management and Environmental Engineering Research Methodology courses in the Civil Engineering S1 Study Program. In addition, he also gave lectures on Sanitation and Environmental Health courses in the Master of Environmental Science Program.

Not only focusing on teaching, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Norhafezah binti Kasmuri also collaborates with Dr.-Ing. Satoto E. Nayono in research in environmental engineering. This collaboration will also include joint research as well as his role as co-supervisor and examiner for students who are carrying out their final project.

During his visit, he also took the opportunity to review the facilities and infrastructure of the Department of Civil Engineering Education and Planning UNY and provide suggestions for future improvements. In addition, he offered benchmarking activities both in terms of curriculum development, infrastructure development, and in the field of research with Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia (UiTM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

This guest lecture became a valuable moment for students and lecturers of the Department of Civil Engineering Education and Planning UNY to broaden their horizons and enrich their academic experience. Students were very enthusiastic and appreciated the deep insights given by Assoc. Prof. Norhafezah when discussing current issues in environmental engineering, including technology-based solutions to address water and sanitation problems. In addition, this activity also provided inspiration for students in choosing a career path. Through stories of Assoc. Prof. Norhafezah, students felt motivated to pursue a career in environmental engineering.
