Passing Technical Inspection, Garuda F15 Is Ready For Ecopa Stadium Track

Garuda F15, a formula car built by Yogyakarta State University students has successfully passed a series of inspection tests in 2015 Student Formula Japan (SFJ). Technical inspections were done to Garuda F15 for 2 consecutive days, and Thursday (3/9/2015), the formula car officially gets into the track to start autocross race.
In the test drive, all formula cars underwent the examination, including the suitability of the car with the specified rules, emergency driver escape, weight test, tilt test, as well as noise and brake test. Emergency driver escape examines the period of racers to get out of the cockpit. This test is undertaken to examine the driver’s knowledge about the colour of the flags on the race, as well as their functions.
The next test is a weight test to measure the weight of the vehicle, followed with a tilt test, that is checking leaks in the car by way of tilting the car in 45 degrees up to 60 degrees. On the noise and brakes test, F15 is challenged to meet the criterion of at least 110 db noise level. Finally, it got a sticker indicating that it has passed the examination. After passing the test drive on the dynamic event, the team is more concentrated on the performance of the car in the race.
"The car is already qualified for scrutineering. Soon we are to get into autocross track, thus we are preparing our car as best as possible to here " as revealed by Ninda, the head of the technical team of Garuda UNY. The racing team from YSU, together with Sapu Angin team from ITS, have succeded to pass the inspection and be ready for challenges in the ECOPA Stadium. Both Indonesian representatives are scheduled to undergo several racing categories namely,autocross, endurance, acceleration, and skidpad.
In addition to testing the car, Garuda UNY Racing Team also joined the presentation of the cost report and design report. During the design report presentation, Rector of YSU, Prof. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd, M.A. and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering YSU, Dr. Tri Siswanto, M. Pd came to accompany and support the team. In the end, YSU got rapturous applause from the jury in the design report presentation.
"The jury is dazzled with the designs made by GURT (Garuda UNY Racing Team. ). As a newcomer, he said the design of the cars is already attractive anyway, " as stated by Anis in her capacity as public relations of the team. (RF)
